Bath scenes are the unsung heroes of anime episodes. They pop up between intense battles, emotional arcs, or random filler moments, giving characters (and viewers) a chance to unwind.
Sometimes they’re funny, sometimes awkward, and sometimes… they’re spicy. But no matter the tone, they always leave an impression.
We all know they’re mostly fan service, but let’s be honest: they’re way too entertaining to skip.
Today, we’re dipping into some of the most memorable anime bath scenes, from hilarious misunderstandings to heart-melting conversations and everything in between.
What is a Bath Scene in Anime?
A bath scene in anime is exactly what it sounds like: characters taking some time to relax in a bath, hot spring (onsen), or public bathhouse.
These moments often act as a chill break between major story arcs, where characters can relax, reflect, or just engage in banter.
Of course, bath scenes are also infamous for their playful fan service.
Steam, conveniently placed objects, and those light beams do plenty of “heavy lifting” to keep things looking “seiso,” totally not to hide all those bath moments in detail.
There’s usually a blend of awkward encounters, accidental slips leading to more fan service, and even total chaos.
Other times, these scenes get unexpectedly deep, giving characters space to reflect or share an emotional moment.
How Do I Rank Bath Scenes?
So, I took my time browsing through the Anime Bath Scenes Wiki and handpicked a few scenes that really stood out.
Then, I went and watched the specific episodes myself, all in the name of “research,” of course.
Now, you’re probably wondering: What makes a bath scene the best? To crown the best, I’ve considered these factors:
- Character Dynamics: Is there entertaining or meaningful interaction between the characters?
- Visual: From the serene glow of the bathhouse to the quality of the animation, how good does it look?
- Atmosphere: Does the scene feel relaxing, intense, or hilariously awkward?
- Impact: Does it leave a lasting impression or make me jealous, whether through humor, emotion, or sheer chaos?
I did think about including plot relevance, like whether the scene added depth to the story or characters, but ultimately decided to judge the scenes on their own.

1Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll
This bath scene in Violet Evergarden‘s movie is stunning and elegant. This scene shows Violet sharing a bath with her friend, and the visuals are breathtakingly detailed.
Instead of relying on light bars or steam, the scene uses tasteful angles, showing the characters’ backs while maintaining a respectful tone.
It’s not about fan service, it’s about creating a serene, atmospheric moment that feels genuine and heartfelt. A beautiful and calming scene that adds to the movie’s emotional depth.
2Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 2 – Episode 11
This bath scene is all about relaxation and mood.
With its calming background music and peaceful atmosphere, Hayasaka turns a simple bath into the ultimate way to unwind. It’s basically the peak of anime bath serenity.
It’s such a relatable moment too, just taking a break after a long day, and the tranquil tone completely pulls you in. It captures that sense of comfort and the small, everyday joys we all crave.
And speaking of relatable, the part where Kaguya calls her (to help her) while she’s still soaking in the bath is spot on. We’ve all had moments like that.
3Uma Musume: Pretty Derby Season 2 – Episode 6
This quiet hot spring scene from Uma Musume: Pretty Derby Season 2 feels like the calm before the storm.
As the two soak in the steamy water, they open up to each other, sharing their thoughts on struggles, dreams, and what awaits them on the racetrack.
It is a soft, reflective moment that highlights their bond beyond competition, showing a more human (or uma?) side to their rivalry.
For fans, though, this scene carries a little extra spark.
The chemistry between them is undeniable, and you can’t help but feel the tension that fuels this ship.
4The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You – Episode 11
After a heartfelt moment where Rentarou once again proves his endless love for his girlfriends, the group winds down with a warm, relaxing bath before their sleepover.
The mood shifts from emotional intensity to lighthearted comfort as laughter fills the air and small talk flows naturally.
Everyone lets their guard down for a while, creating a brief but genuine moment of connection that shows how much closer they have all grown.
From small to big badonkers, Rentarou’s got every kind of girlfriend you can imagine, it definitely adds to the experience. Just imagine what the bath scene would be like once all 100 of them are there!
And of course, the luxurious bath deserves a mention. It is the kind of setup that reminds you how different life is when one of your girlfriends happens to be rich.
5Mission: Yozakura Family – Episode 18
This scene from Mission: Yozakura Family turns a simple bath into a moment of quiet intimacy.
As they soak together, the couple opens up about their family, their past, and what it means to truly understand each other.
The scene flows with warmth and tenderness, where every pause and glance speaks louder than words.
It’s an intimate reflection wrapped in steam and stillness, a rare kind of calm that deepens their bond and reminds you why small, quiet moments can carry so much heart.
6Komi Can’t Communicate – Episode 12
I remember seeing other anime scene where characters bathed in gold coins, but this one had me laughing out loud.
The scene has a whimsical, over-the-top energy that immediately stands out.
The luxurious yet absurd scenario of someone bathing in a money bath adds a unique layer of humor and eccentricity.
It perfectly balances comedy and quirky visuals while showing off the Najimi’s personalities. This one is definitely memorable and incredibly fun to watch.
7Girlfriend, Girlfriend – Episode 11
The hot spring scene in this episode is packed with classic anime comedy. You’ve got the usual misunderstandings and accidental slips that lead to some hilarious moments.
It’s lighthearted, fun, and includes just enough fan service to keep things entertaining without going overboard (right?).
Kanojo mo Kanojo (also known as Girlfriend, Girlfriend) delivers a perfect mix of laughs and charm with this bath scene.
8We Never Learn: Bokuben – Episode 1
Season 2 of We Never Learn! opens with a hilarious onsen scene.
It begins on a wholesome note as the girls chat about random topics, but things quickly spiral into chaos when they realize they’ve wandered into the wrong bath for man.
The awkwardness peaks when other guests show up, and the laughs keep coming when one of the girls forgets her clothes on the way out.
It’s an awkward and embarrassing series of events, but also completely hilarious.
9Citrus – Episode 2
When two girls share a bath together in a yuri anime, you can probably guess where things go from there.
This scene leans into a more sensual tone, with visuals and interactions that feel intentionally steamy.
It’s a bold moment that fits the show’s overall mood and deepens the chemistry between the characters.
It might not be everyone’s favorite type of scene, but it certainly leaves an impression. As a certified man of culture, I have to say… this one’s a masterpiece.
10KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! 2 – Episode 2
KonoSuba is packed with hilarious bath and onsen moments, but episode 2 stands out above the rest.
The banter between Kazuma and Megumin in the bath is pure comedy gold and perfectly captures the show’s chaotic humor.
Another memorable moment comes in season 3, episode 5, with the royal bathtub scene.
Even though it happens off-screen, the visuals and setup make it feel both grand in true KonoSuba style.
11The Quintessential Quintuplets – Episode 9
As a rom-com anime, The Quintessential Quintuplets naturally has its share of fan service, including the classic onsen episode.
But this one does more than that, it actually contributes to the story and character development.
The sisters’ conversation about their love interests adds romantic tension and gives insight into their relationships.
The setting is simple, a traditional Japanese inn with an onsen, but it works beautifully. On a cold winter day, soaking in a warm bath like that sounds pretty amazing, doesn’t it?
12High School DxD BorN – Episode 1
High School DxD is also famous for its bath scenes, but this one stands out because of the setting.
The bathhouse is enormous, beautifully designed, and luxurious enough to fit the entire cast comfortably. It’s over-the-top, and very DxD.
Sure, the scene raises a few questions, like why the water from the girls’ bath somehow overflows into the boys’ bath. The logic makes zero sense, but I’m no architect, so yea… just enjoy the spectacle.
I was tempted to include more bath scenes from this series, but since some lean a bit too far into NSFW territory, I’ll keep things wholesome for now.
13Baka & Test: Summon the Beasts – Episode 6
This episode is pure comedic chaos in the best way possible.
You get a bit of everything: jealousy over body sizes, silly teasing, wholesome moments of the girls playing around, and of course, the boys’ inevitable attempt to sneak a peek.
And then there’s Hideyoshi Kinoshita, the show’s iconic “trap” character, calmly enjoying his own private bath (bath for “Hideyoshi” gender) while everyone else is in total disarray.
It’s classic Baka to Test humor at its finest.
14Chained Soldier – Episode 07
Chained Soldier is known for its steamy energy, it is an ecchi anime after all, but this mixed onsen scene definitely earns its place on the list.
Episode 7 features a “reward” moment for Yuuki from two beautiful characters, packed with fan service and heat. It’s over-the-top, bold, and hard to forget.
An honorable mention goes to episode 10 for its stylish visuals.
The boss character looks calm and comfortable soaking in the bath while the protagonist and his friends are struggling elsewhere.
The contrast, along with the detailed animation, makes it one of those “Damn, that looks good” moments.
15Mayo Chiki! – Episode 8
Episode 8 of Mayo Chiki! delivers a classic awkward onsen situation.
Konoe has to hide her identity as a girl, which leads her to enter the men’s bath. What follows is a mix of tension and comedy as she tries to keep her secret.
The scene gets even funnier when her father unexpectedly joins in. Konoe scrambles to hide while Kinjiro awkwardly talks to her dad, completely unaware of what’s going on.
When her dad eventually realizes his daughter is there, chaos and laughs begin!
There isn’t much context about the setting, but since it takes place in a traditional Japanese inn, it’s safe to say it’s an onsen bath.
16Cyberpunk: Edgerunners – Episode 8
This bath scene is definitely for the plot… surely.
Lucy takes an ice bath to keep her body cool while hacking into enemy systems, turning what could’ve been pure fan service into a tense, story-driven moment.
The cold neon glow sets a chilling cyberpunk mood. No relaxation here, just focus and pressure.
Watching Lucy immersed in ice, calm and composed amid the chaos, is both visually striking and undeniably cool.
17Skeleton Knight in Another World – Episode 6
This bath scene from Skeleton Knight in Another World is comedy gold, the kind of absurd setup only anime can pull off.
An elf girl walks in, completely unaware that the skeleton hero is already soaking in the bath.
It’s the classic “girl walks in on the guy” moment, but with a hilarious twist: the guy’s literally a skeleton. And the fact that the skeleton dude is blushing just makes it even funnier.
18Nyaruko: Crawling With Love! Season 2 – OVA
Haiyore! Nyaruko-san has no shortage of bath scenes, but the one in the OVA easily takes the spotlight.
The entire episode is practically dedicated to onsen antics, filled with lighthearted fan service and silly fun. The visuals are surprisingly nice, setting the perfect mood for a “relaxing” soak.
If you want more, episode 2 of Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W features another memorable bath scene (technically a shower one) with some impressive visuals of Nyaruko that fans will definitely appreciate.
19Laid-Back Camp Season 3 – Episode 6
Yuru Camp perfectly captures the cozy charm of a peaceful onsen visit. The stunning scenery, warm water, and gentle conversations create a calm, heartwarming moment.
Truly a Yuru Camp moment.
It’s the kind of scene that makes you want to gather your friends and head to an onsen yourself.
20Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? – Episode 12
DanMachi also has its share of memorable bath scenes, but the one in season 1 episode 12, stands out the most.
Bell accidentally stumbles upon Ryuu and the other girls bathing in the wild, surrounded by a lush natural landscape.
Even with its fan service elements, the serene atmosphere gives the scene a surprisingly tranquil and refreshing feeling.
21To Love-Ru Darkness OVA – Episode 1
To Love-Ru is famous for its over-the-top antics, and this OVA pushes that reputation even further.
The story takes a wild turn involving a cat that’s actually a girl, leading to some seriously steamy situations.
The fan service is cranked up to the max, but it fits perfectly with the series’ playful and exaggerated tone. If you’re familiar with To Love-Ru, this won’t surprise you at all!
22One Piece – Episode 128
One Piece has countless iconic moments, and this bath scene is one of its funniest.
When Luffy and the crew try to peek at the royal bath, Nami’s ‘smackdown’ (and the inevitable nosebleeds) deliver classic One Piece comedy gold.
While other memorable bath scenes exist, like the one featuring Boa Hancock and Luffy, this moment perfectly captures the series’ mischievous energy.
23Aho Girl – Episode 6
Aho Girl delivers a fun and surprisingly relatable mix of bath and beach moments with best friends.
From chatting about embarrassing topics to their usual ridiculous antics, it’s everything you’d expect from this chaotic comedy.
Even in a bath scene, Aho Girl never drops its trademark goofy energy!
24Assault Lily: Bouquet – Episode 12
In Assault Lily: Bouquet episode 12, the bath scene hits right after an intense battle.
The bathroom may have been wrecked, but that only makes it better, turning it into a gorgeous open-air bath surrounded by nature.
It turns into an open-air bath surrounded by nature, and the visuals are stunning where you can even see the reflections on the bath floor.
The visuals are stunning, with light reflections shimmering on the floor and a calm atmosphere that contrasts beautifully with the action before it.
It’s a perfect cooldown moment for the characters and the audience alike, bringing warmth and relaxation before the finale.
25Fate/Extra: Last Encore – Episode 2
Fate/Extra: Last Encore episode 2 treats us to pure luxury: a bath scene that looks like it came straight out of a high-end fantasy resort.
Flower petals drift across the water, soft light fills the room, and everything screams elegance and comfort.
The same setting appears again in episode 4 with a slightly different angle, but the mood stays the same: refined, relaxing, and beautifully animated.
26Bye Bye, Earth – Episode 7
After some intense training, there’s nothing like a relaxing bath, even if it gets a little unexpected when a “random” person joins in.
The cozy lighting and bubble-filled atmosphere make this scene stand out for its relaxed tone and comfy vibe.
If there’s one word to describe it, it’s “mood.” It’s all about the vibe and the feeling of calm, as long as you ignore the surprise visitor.
27The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World – Episode 10
Even though this bath scene is short, it’s one of the most visually distinct ones.
The shower sits right in the center of a massive bathtub, giving the whole setup a unique and almost magical vibe.
Sure, it raises a funny question like “who puts a shower in the middle of the tub?” But weird layout aside, the scene’s atmosphere and design make it a nice highlight.
