Anime titles these days are getting out of hand. Gone are the days of simple one-word names like Naruto, Bleach, or Clannad.
Now, we’re deep in the era of titles so long they could pass for light novel summaries or short stories.
You don’t even need to watch the show anymore, just reading the title gives you the entire plot, a character arc, and sometimes even the ending.
There was a time I thought That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime series had an absurdly long title. But now? It almost feels short, new anime titles keep getting longer and longer!
Why Are Anime Titles So Long Now?
Nobody has the attention span they used to. We’ve consumed so many short videos and instant content that patience has basically become a lost art.
In today’s fast-paced world, even anime fans (yes, us included) are sometimes too lazy to read through full synopses.
We want to know exactly what we’re getting into, immediately. And that’s WHERE the long titles come in.
This trend started gaining steam in the world of light novels, especially within the ever-growing isekai genre.
More importantly, Japan’s manga, anime, and (especially) light novel markets are already super saturated.
There are so many new titles coming out all the time that creators need a way to stand out.
Writers realized that instead of giving their stories mysterious or vague names, it was more effective to just tell readers the whole premise in the title itself.
That way, you don’t even need to open the book or watch the trailer because you already know if it’s your vibe.
“I Was Reincarnated as a Slime” is exactly what it sounds like. “I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level”? Yup, that’s what you’re getting.
These titles are basically the TL;DR of the entire show.
It’s a marketing strategy, sure. But in one sentence, you get the hook, the setting, the tone, and sometimes even the twist. No time wasted. No guesswork.

1Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon: My Trusted Companions Tried to Kill Me, But Thanks to the Gift of an Unlimited Gacha I Got LVL 9999 Friends and Am Out For Revenge on My Former Party Members and the World
My honest reaction: “HOLY SHIIIIII…”
I’m not sure which translation or localization they will use for the title, but this one is the same title with manga (and in MAL info).
Yeah, this title practically takes up an entire paragraph. And yes, it’s glorious… just kidding, it hasn’t even aired yet.
The anime is set to release in Fall 2025, likely around October.
The premise? After a classic betrayal in a sketchy dungeon, our protagonist is left for dead. But surprise, he’s got an ultra-rare gacha ability that lets him summon ridiculously strong allies.
So he builds a new team and sets off on a revenge tour that’s as satisfying as it is over-the-top.
I won’t say too much since it hasn’t aired yet, but this one’s definitely for fans of dramatic comebacks, broken game mechanics, and villains getting absolutely steamrolled by the MC.

2The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest
Its other title is A Court Magician, Who Was Focused on Supportive Magic Because His Allies Were too Weak, Aims to Become the Strongest After Being Banished. It’s the 1:1 translation from JP title.
After being exiled from the royal court for reasons that definitely weren’t his fault, our magician protagonist sets out to become the most powerful spell-slinger in the land.
It’s your classic “screw you, I’ll do it myself” story, and the title tells you exactly what to expect. And our protagonist was actually one of the four legendary party.
It’s your classic “getting kicked? fine, I’ll do it myself” kind of story, and the title pretty much tells you exactly what to expect. Oh, and the protagonist? He was actually one of the four legendary party members.
The anime is set to air in Fall 2025, likely around October. If you’re interested, you can check out the light novel or manga in the meantime.

3Bogus Skill Fruitmaster: About That Time I Became Able to Eat Unlimited Numbers of Skill Fruits (That Kill You)
It has alternative titles, which is Failure Skill “Nut Master”: It Became Now Possible to Eat as Many Skill Fruits as You Want (From Which You Would Normally Die) that’s much longer than this one.
Basically, it’s one of those stories: a guy gets labeled as useless, only to suddenly discover he’s actually overpowered.
His skill, “Fruitmaster,” lets him create skill fruits that he can eat to gain new abilities, ones that would normally be impossible to obtain.
Bogus Skill Fruitmaster info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 126
- Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy
- Themes: N/A

4The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: From Villainess to Savior
We will use the other title, which is The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen Who Will Become the Source of Tragedy Will Devote Herself for the Sake of the People.
The title is dramatic, and pretty much shows you the whole plot. The story follows the tyrannical villainess of a fantasy game who regains memories of her past life.
Knowing the plot and future events, she decides to avoid the villainous path and instead, she’ll use her power to protect her people and change her destiny.
This show flips the villainess trope by making the former last boss a justice-loving badass.
The title is dramatic in all the right ways, and the story delivers on both emotional depth and fantasy intrigue.

- Total Characters: 119
- Genres: Fantasy
- Themes: Isekai, Villainess
- Score: 7.11 (MAL), 6.4 (IMDb)

5Banished From The Hero’s Party, I Decided To Live A Quiet Life In The Countryside
Another day, another “getting kicked” story.
This anime has other title, I Was Kicked out of the Hero’s Party Because I Wasn’t a True Companion so I Decided to Have a Slow Life at the Frontier, which tells you the whole plot.
After being cast out by his party for being “too weak,” the protagonist opens a small apothecary and tries to settle into a peaceful life with his adorable companion, who gave up everything to be by his side.
But of course, destiny isn’t done with him just yet. His past life keeps creeping back, disrupting his hopes for a quiet, ordinary future.
The title pretty much says it all, but it’s a surprisingly enjoyable watch thanks to its fantasy romance setting and laid-back slice-of-life vibe.
Banished From The Hero’s Party, I Decided To Live A Quiet Life In The Countryside info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 119
- Genres: Fantasy, Romance
- Themes: N/A
- Score: 6.92 (MAL), 6.7 (IMDb)
6The Misfit of Demon King Academy
No, it’s not the full title. The full title is The Misfit of Demon King Academy: History’s Strongest Demon King Reincarnates and Goes to School with His Descendants.
This show follows Anos Voldigoad, the Demon King of Tyranny, who reincarnates thousands of years later only to find that history forgot just how absurdly powerful he is.
He then enrolls in a magical academy where no one realizes he’s the guy everyone’s talking about in legends.
The title is basically the entire plot. But surprisingly, it’s still enjoyable watching Anos who is hilariously overpowered and unapologetically smug.
The Misfit of Demon King Academy info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 117
- Genres: Action, Fantasy
- Themes: Reincarnation, School
- Score: 7.33 (MAL), 7.33 (IMDb)
7The Brilliant Healer’s New Life in the Shadows
While the English title is short, the Japanese title is so long it need to be included in this list.
The full title is Isshun de Chiryou shiteita noni Yakutatazu to Tsuihou sareta Tensai Chiyushi, Yami Healer toshite Tanoshiku Ikiru. I don’t even want to know the 1:1 translation.
This story follows a genius healer who gets kicked out of his party for being deemed useless.
Seeking a quiet life, he opens a small clinic in the slums, only to quickly draw attention for his remarkable skills.
The anime is airing in Spring 2025, which is happening now (March-May). but honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it.
It’s just another “kicked out of the party” story with lazy writing and a plot that doesn’t really go anywhere. I’ve read the manga, so… yeah.
The Brilliant Healer’s New Life in the Shadows info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 113
- Genres: Fantasy
- Themes: Medical
- Score: 6.46 (MAL), 6.3 (IMDb)
8The Strongest Tank’s Labyrinth Raids – A Tank with a Rare 9999 Resistance Skill Got Kicked from the Hero’s Party
This one starts with the classic party betrayal, but with a twist: the guy they kicked out was literally unkillable.
Our boy is a dedicated tank and despite having a ludicrously rare and powerful defense stat, he gets blamed after one unsuccessful raid of the party.
After getting kicked out, he discovers he’s far more OP than he ever realized. Naturally, he ends up becoming the MVP of labyrinth raids and thrives without his former party.
The title might sound like a checklist of MMORPG buzzwords, but it nails the plot and the pettiness.
It’s cathartic, fun, and perfect for anyone who loves watching underappreciated characters get their well-earned revenge arc (cuz they said living your best life is the best revenge).
The Strongest Tank’s Labyrinth Raids info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 112
- Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy
- Themes: N/A
- Score: 6.12 (MAL), 5.6 (IMDb)
9I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too
Finally, an isekai protagonist who brings the power back home.
The title we count is the Japanese one, Isekai de Cheat Skill wo Te ni Shita Ore wa, Genjitsu Sekai wo mo Musou Suru: Level Up wa Jinsei wo Kaeta, which has 105 characters.
This isekai features a bullied high schooler who stumbles into a fantasy realm, levels up to god-tier, and brings all that OP energy back to his real life (He can still go back to fantasy world).
Suddenly he’s ripped, charming, and proceeds to turn his sad high school life into a flex-a-thon.
The title is literally the entire hook. But hey, it works. Watching him auto-win at everything is the anti-grind fantasy we didn’t know we needed.
It’s quite popular, but it’s still not recommended one. The writing is a bit… you know.
I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 105
- Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy
- Themes: Isekai, School
- Score: 6.34 (MAL), 6.6 (IMDb)
10The Aristocrat’s Otherworldly Adventure: Serving Gods Who Go Too Far
Its other title, Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World: The Apostle of the Gods Who Know No Self-Restraint, basically tells you everything. The gods… can be a little extra sometimes.
A kid dies while protecting two young girls from armed attackers, meets a group of ridiculously ‘extra’ gods, and gets dropped into a fantasy world with way too many OP blessings.
He tries to live normally, but the world keeps throwing insane problems at him. The title sets you up for a standard isekai, but it leans hard into the chaos.
The gods are unhinged, the powers are ridiculous, and the pacing is pure rollercoaster. Great for fans of divine nonsense and magical overkill.
The Aristocrat’s Otherworldly Adventure: Serving Gods Who Go Too Far info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 103
- Genres: Action, Fantasy, Romance
- Themes: Harem, Isekai, Reincarnation
- Score: 6.68 (MAL), 6.8 (IMDb)
11Isekai Onsen Paradise
Thanks to localization, the long title Meitou “Isekai no Yu” Kaitakuki: Around 40 Onsen Mania no Tensei Saki wa, Nonbiri Onsen Tengoku deshita become super short.
It’s exactly what you think: a feel-good isekai that revolves around bathhouses, relaxation, and the occasional fantasy twist.
The story follows a hot spring enthusiast who gets reincarnated into a fantasy world, and naturally, he continues his quest to discover hot springs in this new life.
The anime is a cozy delight, blending cozy vibes and fanservice with the universal truth that everyone loves spas.
Isekai Onsen Paradise info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 103
- Genres: Fantasy, Ecchi
- Themes: Harem, Isekai
- Score: 5.24 (MAL), 4.8 (IMDb)
12The Ossan Newbie Adventurer, Trained to Death by the Most Powerful Party, Became Invincible
The title says it all. We will use its alternative title for this one, The Rookie Middle-Aged Adventurer Was Trained to Death by the Most Powerful Party to Become Invincible.
This middle-aged worker sets out to chase his childhood dreams. He’s given a once-in-a-lifetime chance to train under a legendary party in brutal, Spartan-style training.
He gets absolutely wrecked by the hellish training… and somehow emerges on the other side as an unstoppable beast without even trying.
It’s a fun underdog story with the twist of a main character who should be out of his depth but instead casually dunks on every challenge.
Also, thanks for keeping the “ossan” part and make it sounds cool for whoever translate that title.
The Ossan Newbie Adventurer, Trained to Death by the Most Powerful Party, Became Invincible info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 102
- Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy
- Themes: N/A
- Score: 7.37 (MAL), 7.2 (IMDb)
137th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy!
Long title + good story, it’s actually rare to see this.
Its Japanese title, Loop 7-kaime no Akuyaku Reijou wa, Moto Tekikoku de Jiyuu Kimama na Hanayome Seikatsu wo Mankitsu suru, is quite a mouthful, as is typical for many modern light novels.
Our lead has been stuck in a time loop, forced to relive the same tragic life over and over.
In her seventh round, she decides, “Screw it, I’m marrying the scary duke who kills everyone if it means I can be happy.” And guess what? It kinda works!
The title perfectly captures the unhinged, genre-savvy energy of the story. It’s romantic, funny, and way clever than you’d expect.
7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy! info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 102
- Genres: Romance
- Themes: Time Travel, Villainess
- Score: 7.51 (MAL), 7.3 (IMDb)
14The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases
The full title is Dekisokonai to Yobareta Motoeiyuu wa Jikka kara Tsuihou sareta node Sukikatte ni Ikiru Koto ni Shita.
The story follows a nobleman who’s branded a failure and banished from his household. Unbeknownst to others, he was a hero in a past life and still retains his powers in this one.
As the title suggests, he just wants to live a carefree life after being a hero, but things don’t go that smoothly.
While the title doesn’t reveal every detail (but the JP is still very long), it gives you a pretty good idea of what the main story is about.
The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 100
- Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy
- Themes: N/A
- Score: 5.21 (MAL), 5.1 (IMDb)
15My Instant Death Ability is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me!
This might be the most self-explanatory title on the list. The MC’s ability is exactly what it says: instant death.
And that ability works exactly as advertised: no charge time, no cooldown and just “you die now.” He doesn’t even want to fight most of the time, it’s the world that keeps picking fights.
The anime balances goofy power fantasies with dark humor (one boss dies mid-monologue), making it a guilt-free binge for days when you need catharsis.
The title is long, but the fights are short… like, instantaneously short.
My Instant Death Ability is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me! info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 98
- Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy
- Themes: Isekai, Parody
- Score: 6.37 (MAL), 6.3 (IMDb)
16Beheneko: The Elf-Girl’s Cat is Secretly an S-Ranked Monster!
S-Rank Monster no “Behemoth” dakedo, Neko to Machigawarete Elf Musume no Pet toshite Kurashitemasu (JP title) is not your average fantasy slice-of-life.
The story follows an elf who adopts an adorable, fluffy cat who is actually an ancient apex predator in disguise. What’s more, the cat was once a noble knight reincarnated into his feline form.
It’s a comedic twist on the whole pet trope, and the title sets you up for both wholesomeness and property damage.
The charm is in the contrast slice-of-life vibes… until the cat casually nukes a villain. Perfect for fans of “wholesome until it’s not” energy.
Beheneko: The Elf-Girl’s Cat is Secretly an S-Ranked Monster! info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 98
- Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Ecchi
- Themes: Reincarnation
- Score: 5.78 (MAL), 4.9 (IMDb)
17Failure Frame: I Became the Strongest and Annihilated Everything with Low-Level Spells
Another isekai and “you thought I was weak but oops, I’m broken” story. Sigh…
The alternate title, I Became the Strongest With the Failure Frame “Abnormal State Skill” as I Devastated Everything, is actually a closer match to the original Japanese translation.
Our protagonist is given a supposedly garbage-tier skill and thrown into a deadly dungeon. But once he figures out how to exploit that “garbage” ability, he becomes completely OP.
The title may be long, but it’s also an accurate warning: underestimate this protagonist at your own risk.
Failure Frame: I Became the Strongest and Annihilated Everything with Low-Level Spells info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 95
- Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy
- Themes: Isekai
- Score: 6.48 (MAL), 6.7 (IMDb)
18Story in Which I Was Kidnapped by a Young Lady’s School to be a “Sample of the Common People”
I know this anime, but not by that title. I remember it as Shomin Temple instead. And yes, both are the actual titles.
The story is about a totally average guy who gets abducted and forced to attend a prestigious all-girls school to serve as a “sample” so the rich girls can learn what commoners are like.
The title is absurd, the premise is even more absurd, and yet… it kind of works.
It’s a comedy through and through, and if you’re in the mood for something offbeat and shamelessly weird, this one’s a trip.
Shomin Sample info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 93
- Genres: Comedy, Romance, Ecchi
- Themes: Harem, School
- Score: 6.66 (MAL), 6.4 (IMDb)
19I May Be a Guild Receptionist, but I’ll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time
Honestly, the title feels way too relatable.
Its Japanese title, Guild no Uketsukejou desu ga, Zangyou wa Iya nanode Boss wo Solo Toubatsu Shiyou to Omoimasu, has 92 characters which is considered long.
Our girl works a stressful job at an adventurers’ guild, and while she looks like a normal receptionist, she’s secretly strong enough to solo raid bosses.
Everything is fine until she gets fed up and solos dungeon bosses just to end her shift early and enjoy her evening.
The title is half workplace complaint, half power fantasy, and 100% millennial burnout goals.
If you’ve ever fantasized about demolishing workplace problems with a magic sword, this one’s calling your name.
I May Be a Guild Receptionist, but I’ll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 92
- Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy
- Themes: N/A
- Score: 6.67 (MAL), 6.3 (IMDb)
20I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability
The title pretty much lays out the whole premise, it’s about a magic-obsessed commoner who gets reincarnated as royalty.
In a world where nobles have greater magic power, he now has all the time and resources he needs to fully indulge his magical obsession. Priorities right?
This show is a magic nerd’s dream. Our protagonist doesn’t care about politics or war, he just wants to study spells and become a literal magic encyclopedia.
Watching him nerd over magic is a lot of fun, and the anime’s over-the-top spell battles make it a truly dazzling watch.
I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 88
- Genres: Adventure, Fantasy
- Themes: Reincarnation
- Score: 7.43 (MAL), 6.8 (IMDb)
21Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town?
Uh… yes, this is real title. The JP title, Tatoeba Last Dungeon Mae no Mura no Shounen ga Joban no Machi de Kurasu Youna Monogatari, is even longer.
The whole premise centers on a sweet, polite kid who moves to another town, completely unaware that he’s ridiculously overpowered.
Our protagonist is raised near the final boss zone and thinks he’s average, but in reality, he’s a walking nuke in human form.
The title sounds like a weird hypothetical, but it’s exactly what happens.
It’s weirdly wholesome, and packed with moments where you just want to scream, “HOW DOES HE NOT KNOW HE’S OP?!”
Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town? info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 88
- Genres: Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy
- Themes: N/A
- Score: 6.33 (MAL), 6.4 (IMDb)
22I Parry Everything
“So anyway, I started parrying…” that’s the title I’d use if I were the creator. This one is just pure comedy gold.
This anime has many titles, but the one we use is the JP one, Ore wa Subete wo “Parry” suru: Gyaku Kanchigai no Sekai Saikyou wa Boukensha ni Naritai.
The protagonist has trained obsessively in one thing: parrying. That’s it. He figured he’d needs more than that to become a proper adventurer.
But it turns out that being able to deflect everything is kind of a big deal. When he finally steps into the adventuring world, everyone is baffled by his unstoppable defense.
The title is basically his reaction to the entire plot. It’s lowkey genius and unexpectedly funny, with great “late bloomer becomes a god-tier warrior” energy.
I Parry Everything info (MAL):
- Total Characters: 87
- Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy
- Themes: N/A
- Score: 6.90 (MAL), 7.0 (IMDb)
Conclusion: The Beauty of Ridiculous Titles
At the end of the day, ridiculously long anime titles are part of what makes modern anime culture so delightfully chaotic.
They might look silly at first glance, but they reflect the market that’s already saturated and fighting to stand out in the crowd.
Some titles spoon-feeding the entire plot, and some just having fun with absurd setups.
Either way, these titles have carved out their own niche and found a loving fanbase that can’t get enough of them.
So the next time you see an anime with a ridiculously long title, give it a chance (but make sure to check the score first, not all of them are worth your time).
