1To Be Hero X

To Be Hero X Anime

Not gonna lie, I went into this anime (well, technically a donghua) completely blind, aside from watching one trailer on YouTube. And let me tell you… IT’S A BANGERRRR.

The story takes place in a sci-fi world where heroes are born from people’s trust and the image they hold of them. In this society, anyone, even an average person, can become a hero.

Our protagonist, Ling Lin, is just a regular guy working in the hero advertising biz. But everything changes when he crosses paths with a hero named Nice. After the accident, Ling Lin is forced to become Nice’s substitute.

The show offers a surprisingly realistic look at what goes on behind the scenes of being a hero.

There have already been several twists in the early episodes, making it an unpredictable watch.

Three episodes in, and it’s already clear that it’s a love letter to superhero fatigue, packed with enough action and heart to make you feel bad for them.

*It has EN and JP dub as well, not just CN.

2Fire Force Season 3

Fire Force Anime Season 3

The inferno is back, and it’s blazing hotter than ever in this action-packed urban fantasy (You know the ‘inferno’ reference if you’ve watched Fire Force before).

We waited a while for this one (5 years), and it was absolutely worth it.

Season 3 picks up right where Season 2 left off, diving straight into the war between the Holy Sol Temple and the Evangelist’s cult. And of course, Shinra and the 8th Fire Force squad are right in the thick of it.

David Production hasn’t lost their touch, the fire effects are still mesmerizing, and the sound design (those crackling embers!) deserves an award.

But what’s really cooking is the plot: alliances are shattering, secrets about Adolla Bursts are exploding, and Tamaki’s… luck… somehow still finds ways to hijack scenes.

If you’ve been waiting for answers, this season’s pacing is a controlled burn that’s finally paying off.

I watched the first three episodes, and I think it’s time for a rewatch of Seasons 1 and 2 to refresh everything.

3The Too-Perfect Saint: Tossed Aside by My Fiancé and Sold to Another Kingdom

The Too-Perfect Saint Tossed Aside by My Fiancé and Sold to Another Kingdom Anime

Yep, you can pretty much tell it’s an anime adaptation based on a light novel just by the ridiculously long title.

The premise revolves around Philia, a saint blessed with overwhelming magical powers who’s dumped by her fiancé and shipped off to another kingdom as part of a political marriage.

Sounds cliché, right? But trust me, this show knows exactly how to subvert expectations. This could be a good fantasy romance anime if they handle it well.

From the very first episode, Philia steals the spotlight with her sharp wit and unapologetic confidence.

Instead of becoming a passive victim, Philia takes charge in her new kingdom, using her intelligence and abilities to carve out her own path.

The show’s biggest strength? Probably its wholesomeness. Everyone in the new kingdom treats her with kindness, and it looks like the kingdom that sold her is going to get karma soon (hopefully).

Even her sister turns out to be genuinely good, she actually thinks and acts like a “saint” as well (a bit late though). It’s rare to see that in this kind of story.

The art style is lush and colorful, perfectly capturing the fantasy setting, and the soundtrack enhances the emotional beats beautifully.

The Too-Perfect Saint: Tossed Aside by My Fiancé and Sold to Another Kingdom info (MAL):

  • Alternative Title: Kanpekisugite Kawaige ga Nai to Konyaku Haki sareta Seijo wa Ringoku ni Urareru

4Summer Pockets

Summer Pockets Anime

Visual novel adaptations can be hit-or-miss, but Summer Pockets is already proving it’s here to make you feel everything. I mean this slice of life anime is created by the same creator who made Clannad VN.

Set on a tranquil island full of strange traditions and fading memories, the story follows a boy named Hairi who escapes to a rural island after certain tragedy.

As he settles into island life, he gradually begins to unravel the mysteries surrounding the place, and the ones hidden within himself.

So far, the anime nails the atmosphere: warm lighting, cicadas buzzing, waves in the background… it’s got that “feels like summer break” mood dialed all the way up.

And just like other Key works (Clannad, Angel Beats!), it builds toward something bigger. Maybe expect heartbreak, healing, and a good dose of emotional storytelling along the way.

5Witch Watch

Witch Watch Anime

Witch Watch is one of those shows that’s just plain fun.

Based on the hit manga by Kenta Shinohara (Sket Dance, Astra: Lost in Space), this show mixes slice-of-life comedy with supernatural hijinks in the best possible way.

The story follows Morihito, a super-serious ogre boy, and Nico, the bubbly witch he’s sworn to protect. As usual, Nico’s spells go hilariously wrong all the time.

The animation keeps up with the tone shifts really well. One moment you’re giggling at some dumb magical mishap, the next you’re watching a fight scene that unexpectedly feel intense.

For me, what really sells it is the character chemistry. Nico and Morihito are the classic “sunshine and stone-faced bodyguard” duo, and their interactions are genuinely adorable.

With lovable characters and a comedic tone that never wears thin, Witch Watch is perfect for when you need something light but not shallow.

6My Hero Academia: Vigilantes

My Hero Academia Vigilantes Anime

We’ve known this spinoff manga was gold, and the anime adaptation is proving it.

Vigilantes is exactly the kind of spin-off that breathes new life into a franchise that’s been running for years.

Instead of following flashy UA students, this one zooms in on the street-level, underground hero scene with all the grit, improvisation, and real-world tension that comes with it.

The focus is on Koichi, a good guy with weak “sliding” Quirk who operates outside the law, helping people where pro heroes can’t… or won’t.

It’s more grounded and less flashy, but delivers emotional payoffs the main series doesn’t always hit.

The tone leans darker, spotlighting small-time criminals and systemic flaws, but it’s not all doom and gloom.

Plus, seeing younger versions of fan favorites adds juicy lore for MHA diehards.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes info (MAL):

  • Alternative Title: Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia Illegals
  • Studios: Bones Film
  • Genres: Action
  • Themes: Super Power
  • Where to Watch: Crunchyroll, Bilibili, Ani-One Asia (YouTube)

7Lazarus

Lazarus Anime

This one’s for fans of high-concept sci-fi and action that feels like it’s been ripped straight from a 90s anime fever dream, Lazarus is directed by Shinichirō Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop) and has vibes for days.

The premise? In a future where death has been cured (yep), humanity is thriving… until the miracle drug’s inventor flips the switch and turns the whole planet into his plaything.

It’s got that slick, jazzy Watanabe touch, but with a modern punch of high-octane combat and philosophical undertones about humanity and control.

With only a few episodes out, Lazarus has already shown it’s not afraid to go bold with its direction and soundtrack (yes, it slaps), and the pacing is tight.

It’s definitely shaping up to be the mature, stylized action series of the season.

Lazarus info (MAL):

  • Alternative Title: N/A
  • Studios: MAPPA
  • Genres: Sci-Fi
  • Themes: N/A

8Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc

Black Butler Emerald Witch Arc Anime

Ciel and Sebastian are back, and they’ve brought gothic horror realness with them.

Black Butler returns with the long-awaited Emerald Witch Arc, and it’s a strong reminder of why this franchise became iconic in the first place.

This arc plunges the duo into a fog-covered village in Germany that’s being plagued by witches, or so the rumors say.

The vibes? Spooky, mysterious, and steeped in that classic historical Victorian aesthetic (as usual).

You get the usual blend of murder mystery and supernatural intrigue, but this time with a darker, more horror-tinged twist.

As a longtime Black Butler fan, this one’s a personal favorite of mine (it also has tanks and stuff in action, LOL). But honestly, I’d still recommend it to you, even if you’re new to the series.

Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc info (MAL):

  • Alternative Title: Kuroshitsuji: Midori no Majo-hen
  • Studios: CloverWorks
  • Genres: Action, Mystery, Supernatural
  • Themes: Historical, Mythology
  • Where to Watch: Crunchyroll, Bilibili, Muse Asia (YouTube)

9Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive?

Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive Anime

This romcom anime is a sleeper hit. Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive? asks the age-old question: can guys and girls just be friends? And then answers it… well, kind of.

The story centers on two childhood best friends navigating high school and the increasingly blurry line between platonic and romantic connection.

It’s not about over-the-top confessions or love triangles, but about the messy, awkward, sometimes painful reality of growing up and figuring yourself out.

It’s got charm, wit, and characters who feel like people you actually know. Plus, the chemistry between the leads is natural without being overly tropey.

If you’ve ever been stuck between “I love you” and “we’re just friends,” this one’s definitely going to hit close to home. You might even see a bit of yourself in the characters.

Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive? info (MAL):

  • Alternative Title: Danjo no Yuujou wa Seiritsu suru? (Iya, Shinai!!)
  • Studios: J.C.Staff
  • Genres: Comedy, Romance
  • Themes: School
  • Where to Watch: Crunchyroll, Bilibili, Aniplus Asia

10Kowloon Generic Romance

Kowloon Generic Romance Anime

Weird name. Gorgeous show. Kowloon Generic Romance is the definition of vibes.

Set in a dreamy, slightly retro-futuristic version of Kowloon Walled City, it blends romance, mystery, and sci-fi into one surreal experience.

At first, it feels like a quirky rom-com, two real estate agents bickering and flirting their way through their workday, but you quickly realize there’s something… off.

The world has a hazy, dreamlike quality. Memories seem unstable. Time feels weird. And the romance? Complicated to say.

It’s hard to pin this show down, but that’s the charm. Each episode builds on moments with uncanny surrealism, yet still delivers rich character moments and unique visuals.

You never quite know what’s real, what’s memory, or what’s been manufactured. Sometimes you might even lose in the sauce.

If you’re into slow-burn sci-fi with a poetic edge, Kowloon Generic Romance is your sleeper hit of the season.

Kowloon Generic Romance info (MAL):

  • Alternative Title: N/A
  • Studios: Arvo Animation
  • Genres: Romance, Sci-Fi
  • Themes: Adult Cast, Workplace
  • Where to Watch: Crunchyroll, Bilibili, Ani-One Asia
