Summer 2025 has finally wrapped up. While a few shows are still airing, most of the summer’s anime have already graced our screens, enough for us to know which ones truly stand out.
I might be a little late with my picks this time, but honestly, it feels more fair to recommend anime once you know which the real gems are.
And summer 2025 isn’t just another anime season. It felt like a dream festival for anime fans.
After years of cliffhangers and unfinished arcs, this summer delivers the goods with a stacked lineup dominated by highly anticipated Season 2s.

It’s one of those seasons where your watchlist is overflowing, but you’ll still want to watch everything anyway.

1The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity
This one has a generic, cliché plot: misunderstood scary guy meets shy girl. But I promise you’ll melt while watching them, it’s pure sugar overload.
Rintarou Tsumugi looks like a scary delinquent, but beneath the tough exterior he’s a softhearted guy helping at his family’s pastry shop.
That’s where he meets Kaoruko Waguri, a bright, cheerful girl who doesn’t judge him by appearances.
She treats him like a person, and that simple kindness starts to grow into something deeper.
This one is perfect if you love romance with a touch of elegance. The story explores how love blooms between characters from different social circles, with plenty of heart-melting, emotional moments.
There’s little to no drama between the MC and FMC. Instead, they’re just two people who admire each other and genuinely enjoy spending time together.
If you’re into romance that takes this sweeter, more relaxed approach, this anime is a delightful watch. Oh, also no unnecessary fanservice so far.

2My Dress-Up Darling Season 2
Our dynamic cosplay duo, Marin and Gojo, are finally back!
The first season had fans falling in love with cosplay culture, heartfelt character growth, and Marin’s eccentric personality.
Season 2 brings bigger conventions, fresh costumes, and maybe… even a step forward in their relationship. This is the sequel many fans have been dying to talk about online.
For those curious: there’s actually less fanservice compared to Season 1.
But we also get some great arcs for side characters, plus a new face: Amano Chitose, who shook the fandom with his cute crossdressing cosplay.
And if you’re new to the series, definitely give it a try. It’s also a good story for anyone who’s ever hidden their true self.

3Dan Da Dan Season 2
Dan Da Dan exploded onto the scene with its wild blend of psychic battles, alien invasions, cursed spirits all tied together by a story that somehow makes it work.
Anyone who hasn’t watched it would never guess the story kicks off with a guy searching for his missing ball (yes, that ball).
It’s one of those rare shows that balances sheer ridiculousness with genuine emotional beats.
Science SARU’s animation was a perfect match for the show’s kinetic energy, and fans are expecting nothing less this time around.
Following that jaw-dropping finale, Season 2 is set to push the lore even further, cranking up both the action and the absurdity.

4Grand Blue Dreaming Season 2
After seven years of waiting, the dive club is back. And somehow, they’re even more unhinged than before.
Fans of Grand Blue’s chaotic, beer-fueled antics are finally getting the sequel they’ve been craving. If you’ve read the manga, you already know just how absurd things are about to get.
Season 2 will give us more diving club insanity, more shirtless chaos, and even a bit of love-related misunderstanding.
The legendary drinking gags, the extreme faces, the sheer “what did I just watch?” energy… season two is ready to top all of that.
It may be juvenile humor, but it’s done with so much heart that you can’t help but laugh along.
And beneath all the madness, there’s a surprising amount of wholesome friendship that makes you the cast even more.
And here’s the best part: it’s already confirmed that Season 3 is coming. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait nearly as long this time.

5Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus
So… should we call this Season 2, or is it technically Season 5 now?
After the emotional rollercoasters of Sister Venturing Out and Knapsack Kid, the story continues with a brand-new show adapting the next light novel arc.
Set a year after Knapsack Kid, this Christmas arc brings Sakuta and Mai together again in a story of love, time loops, and the series’ signature blend of melancholy and hope.
Fans can look forward to poignant character arcs, cute interactions between Sakuta and Mai, and plenty of tear-jerker moments.
With Sakuta’s journey through the mysteries of Adolescence Syndrome still unfolding, the emotional stakes have never been higher.
If you’ve followed the story since Bunny Girl Senpai, this show feels like a gift made just for you.

6Gachiakuta
Now for one of the most anticipated new entries, Gachiakuta!
This dark fantasy manga has been generating massive hype, and its anime adaptation is shaping up to be one of the season’s biggest wild cards.
The story follows Rudo, a boy cast into an abyssal junkyard for a crime he didn’t commit. Instead of death, he discovers a nightmarish world crawling with trash-born monsters.
The animation style and killer aesthetic give it strong Fire Force and Jujutsu Kaisen vibes. And with Studio Bones (My Hero Academia) handling the adaptation, you can expect fluid animation and a moody, immersive world.
It’s stylish, it’s intense, and it feels like the kind of anime that’ll blow up once people see the first fight scenes animated.

7The Summer Hikaru Died
This might be one of the creepiest and most hauntingly emotional series this season.
At first, it looks like a heartfelt tale of friendship, but then it twists into unsettling horror when one of the main characters is replaced by something not quite human.
This isn’t your typical BL story. It’s a chilling psychological drama about loss, identity, and the horror of something wearing your best friend’s skin.
Renowned for its eerie atmosphere and complex character study, the manga has built a reputation for leaving readers unsettled long after they finish reading it.
The adaption captures that same energy, making it one of the most hauntingly beautiful and thought-provoking highlights of the season.

8Secrets of the Silent Witch
Hey look, it’s Bocchi… but in a fantasy world.
Secrets of the Silent Witch follows Monica Everett, the youngest member of the Seven Sages, who is secretly tasked with protecting a prince at an elite academy.
Though a magical genius, Monica is so shy that she hides her power, even going as far as developing silent casting to avoid drawing attention.
Watching her juggle the pressures of being a protector while battling her social anxiety gives the story both charm and relatability.
It’s the classic “overpowered but socially anxious” setup, executed with heart and humor.
You get a bocchi-type heroine who’s secretly a badass, a sprinkle of romance, and the classic blend of school life wrapped in a fantasy setting.

Part one hooked us with slick action sequences and laugh-out-loud gags, and now part two is set to dive deeper into the assassin underworld.
With Sakamoto’s unique blend of dad energy and lethal skill, every episode strikes the perfect balance between wholesome comedy and jaw-dropping fight choreography.

11There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless…
This title doesn’t hide its intentions! A spicy yuri romance with a premise that’s as direct as it is entertaining.
Renako just wants a fresh start: a new school, new friends, and maybe becoming the outgoing girl she’s always admired.
But when she befriends Mai, a stunning model who seems like the perfect bestie, things take an unexpected turn.
Out of nowhere, Mai confesses her love and proposes they try being both friends and maybe-sorta girlfriends, just to see what works.
It’s playful, fast-paced, and designed for fans who enjoy their romance with a heavy dose of playful persistence and “gap moe.”
Expect a rom-com that isn’t afraid to be forward, and plenty of “just kiss already!” moments.

Season two will give us bigger kaiju, more intense fights, and some key character moments that manga readers have been dying to see animated.
What really sets the series apart, though, is Kafka’s ongoing struggle with his kaiju transformation, making it more than just another monster-battle anime.
And with Production I.G. leading the animation, the action is guaranteed to look more explosive than ever.

If you’re into fantasy with a twist, Clevatess will hook you from the very start.
Thirteen heroes are sent by humanity to defeat the monstrous Lord of Dark Beasts, Clevatess, only to be wiped out like it’s nothing.
But instead of stopping there, Clevatess storms the human capital, intent on burning everything down… until the story takes an unexpected turn.
He revives one of the fallen heroes, Alicia, and forced her to help raise an infant whose future choices could decide the fate of the world.
Yep, it’s as wild as it sounds. And if that kind of premise intrigues you, this series is well worth checking out.

14Call of the Night Season 2
The stylish, nocturnal world of vampires returns in Season 2 of Call of the Night.
But this series isn’t just about bloodsuckers, it’s about the allure of freedom, loneliness, and connection that only the night can bring.
Season 1 gave us a mix of supernatural romance and late-night wanderlust. Now, Season 2 looks ready to deepen both the vampire politics and the tender relationship between Kou and Nazuna.
LIDEN FILMS’ signature style, neon-lit cityscapes backed by a killer soundtrack, returns to drench every scene in atmosphere. More than a romance, this series is an intoxicating vibe.
Stylish, dreamy, and tinged with melancholy, it’s the perfect anime for summer nights when you just want to lose yourself in the atmosphere.

15Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze
This series takes the familiar “new guy living with eccentric sisters” setup and adds something rare: genuine heart.
The Mikadono sisters are basically school royalty. One is a shogi prodigy, one dominates in karate, and one owns the stage in theater, but their talent has driven them apart.
Enter Yuu Ayase, a boy with zero special skills but one important promise to keep: fulfilling his late mother’s wish to create a true family.
What follows isn’t just comedy and awkward cohabitation (though there’s plenty of that).
It’s the story of Yuu slowly breaking down the sisters’ walls with nothing more than his awkward honesty and genuine kindness.
If your summer watchlist needs something easygoing and silly between all the intense action shows, this one is the perfect palate cleanser.
